Equipment List for Everest Trek

This is a sample of trekking gear. What you take may differ from the photo.

 

So you booked your trip to the Everest Gokyo Trek next year. Now you need to buy your gear for the trip. Below is a list of items you’ll need.

Hiking boots or shoes Lightweight. Make sure wear them before going to avoid blisters
Pants A pair of lightweight and a pair of heavyweight pants for lower and higher elevations.
Shorts 1-2 pair of comfortable shorts, convertible pants or skirts
T-Shirts 2-4, cotton
Shirt A lightweight, long sleeved shirt. This is worn to avoided sun burn
Hat Ensure it has wide brim to cover the face and neck
Socks 2 pairs of thin and 2 pairs of thick woolen socks
Underwear Dry weave wicks away moisture and are easy to clean
Swimming suit
Water Bottle and iodine tablets
Sunglasses with a strap
Toiletries Large and small towels. Toilet paper can be bought in Kathmandu and some village in the mountains.
Headlamp with spare batteries
First Aid Personal medical supplies such as bandaids and tweezers
Multi-tool 
Sewing kit
Sunscreen  This is essential in the winter when skys are clearest.

If your Trek is in Winter

Warm jacket Synthetic or down.
Sleeping bag to -10 or -15 C and lightweight
Shirt or Sweaters Made of wool. Sweaters can be purchased in Kathmandu.
Trousers Windproof and waterproof . Necessity on all treks going above 3,000 meters
Thermal underwear These are excellent to sleep in at night.
Hat A woolen hat or beanie to wear in the morning and at night.
Gloves Leather with lining and woolen are best.
Snow Glasses with a strap
Gaiters to keep snow and moisture out of your boots and pants
